Randy Oxford Band featuring Brad Sinsel
East Meets West at the Seasons: American Music x2
April 14, 2012
East meets West in a special show dedicated to American music at the Seasons Performance Hall, April 14, in Yakima. The award-winning Randy Oxford Band from Seattle will showcase its distinctive interpretation of the blues, joined by internationally known vocalist, Brad Sinsel, of Yakima, who will perform songs from his latest project, a celebration of American traditional music. This one-time collaboration between a band known for blues and a veteran of the world of rock and metal will honor what American music is and always has been – a diverse and lively blend of history, cultures, and styles.
Lead by Randy Oxford — award-winning trombonist, jam host and entertainer — the Randy Oxford Band tours extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada, riding on their reputation for high-energy shows, well-crafted arrangements, inspired solos, and their sense of fun. The six-piece band includes Jada Amy as the featured vocalist, with her velvety voice and confident, take-no-prisoners attitude. She’s sultry, playful, and hard to resist. Manual Morais is one of the hottest young guitarists to come out of Brazil. His style is spirited and emotional, a skillful blend of blues, rock, latin, and funk. Randy Norris, also on guitar, is a respected veteran, known for his finesse and creativity. On bass, the band features Farko Dosumov from Uzbekistan, who is known not only for laying down a solid bass line, but also for his stellar solos, usually accompanied by his partner in rhythm, Richard Sabol. Richard is a seasoned player, whose skill on the drums is admired on both coasts. The two guitarists complement each other and, together with Oxford’s killer trombone and the solid rhythm section, give the band its characteristic big sound. The interplay between the performers provides the audience with something entertaining to watch, as well as to hear.
“One of the greatest rock voices ever to emerge from the Pacific Northwest, ” according to Jeff Gilbert, contributing writer for the EMP and Guitar Player Magazine, Brad Sinsel is usually recognized as the legendary front man for the band, TKO, wildly popular in the late ‘70s and ‘80’s. Brad spent years touring with bands like the Kinks, Van Halen, AC/DC, Heart, and Foreigner while with TKO, and later, War Babies. He continues to be involved in music and has worked on a variety of projects in recent years, including a Hank Williams tribute with Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam; with Brynn Arens (formerly of Flipp) and the band American Standard; and most recently, as a contributor to the McClellans’ project, “100 Years of American Song,” with Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, Mark Pickerel of Screaming Trees and an impressive selection of other big time musicians. The Randy Oxford Band is looking forward to their collaboration with Brad Sinsel in what promises to be a very entertaining performance.
